On a hot summer day in July 2010 in Lahore, Pakistan I visited Saiban’s KKB4 housing community; and under a veil of intense heat I found energy and inspiration in a woman with a vision and entrepreneurial acumen. This woman, anonymous to me by name, origin, and other aspects of identity, is a resident of Saiban, a burgeoning mixed-income, mixed use community whose residents are largely indigent, resilient, and empowered Pakistanis from the region.
