The Technical Group on Estimation of Housing Shortage has been constituted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation vide Office Memorandum No. N11013/1/2006-H.I dated 28th July 2006 under the Chairmanship of Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Dean, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with the terms of reference as: 1. To review the methodology adopted by the 9th Plan Working Group on Urban Housing for estimation of Housing Shortage and evolving more sustainable and viable methodology; 2. Estimation of Housing Shortage and housing requirements at the national and state levels in urban areas during the 11th plan period.
