This presentation is based on IMF Staff Discussion Note 15/12, June 2015, and Cerutti, Dagher, and Dell’ Aricia’s paper of 2017 titled “Housing Finance and Real Estate Booms: A Cross-Country Perspective” which appeared in the Journal of Housing Economics. The presentation covers the motivation behind studying housing finance, mortgage markets around the world, housing finance, and real estate booms, and policy implications and conclusions.
