The main objective of this course is to develop practical knowledge that will enable participants to understand the functioning and structure of the housing sector and acquire innovative skills and know-how that will enable them to design transformational policies, programs, and strategies that influence housing markets and promote the supply of affordable housing options for different segments of the population. Course participants will acquire substantive knowledge about the various elements that influence housing development as well as the design of policies and strategies that have a direct impact on sustainable urban development and poverty reduction. Participants will build a solid understanding of several housing attributes such as land supply, infrastructure development, mortgage and housing finance; labor, building materials and the construction industry, legislation, and land use planning for housing.
