Affordable Housing is a priority of The City of Calgary (The City) and is recognized as an integral part of complete communities in The City‟s long-range vision for the future. Since 2001, The City of Calgary has committed resources, including funding, to contribute to the creation of over 1,000 units of nonmarket housing. Given the importance of affordable housing, together with the magnitude of The City‟s investment in it, research was needed to inform the quantity, type and location of future affordable housing development by The City. The first Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) report was published in 2012 using secondary data sources, including the 2006 Federal census. This is a 2015 update to that report.
