Affordable Housing in New York City: Case of Inclusionary Zoning in Green Point – Williamsburg

New York City has been facing a housing crisis and rising rents as comparing other countries and over half the city’s renters pay more than 30% of their household income toward rent.  The housing in New York may be controlled by using a tool, rate designed to the introduction of affordable homes with market development. The technique is typically tied with re-zoning activities and incentivizes the creation of affordable units. The situation of New York City as a global economic, financial and cultural center, continuously grows housing needs and affordability. The housing crisis is badly affecting vulnerable populations. Mayor de Blasio’s the housing New York Plan trusts on the program’s success in order to meet its goals and the city continues to re-zone neighborhoods.
