Okotoks is growing. Okotoks doubled in population in 15 years (2003 to 2018, from 14,1851 to 29,0022 people). As the population continues to grow, there will be a requirement for more and different types of housing to meet a range of needs. To date, the majority of the housing stock in Okotoks is detached dwellings, creating gaps in the housing supply and contributing to housing needs in the community. More diverse and affordable housing options help to support a more livable and inclusive community, where those who need extra support to successfully stay housed have their needs met, where seniors can age-in-place as their housing requirements change, where lower- and middle-income families have options, and where young people and employees can afford to stay in the community
