Affordable housing is a pathway to opportunity. Apart from providing shelter, for most people, affordable housing is the foundation for life’s opportunities and a doorway to success. But many Western Australian households are finding this goal difficult to secure, with the problem most acute amongst those on low-to-moderate incomes. This comes on top of a long-term decline in affordability, an emerging gap between supply and demand at the low-cost end of the market, and an overstretched public housing system.
