The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, with a population of more than 92 million people, is the 7th most populated Asian country and the 12th most populated country in the world. The first official census in the Philippines was carried out in 1877 which recorded a population of 5,567,685. The population increased from 1990 to 2008 with 28 million at a growth rate of 45%. As of 2011, the Philippines has become the world’s 12th most populous nation, with a population of over 92 million.
