A range of case studies are provided as examples of the types of support and engagement that local government can have with affordable housing needs and issues at the local level. The focus of the case studies is on practical ways that Council can address the need for affordable housing that are most likely to be effective and within its power as a local authority. Most case studies have involved some form of partnership with the community and/or the private sector, and also include practical ways that Council can support affordable housing through the planning and development process.
