Uzbekistan has implemented the Uzbek model of development and reforming the economy, which is based on the following five principles: Government as a main reformer; priority of economy over politics; the rule of law; a strong social policy; consistent and gradual transition to market relations. As a result, Uzbekistan has managed to achieve sustainable socio-economic development. Since 2005, the country’s economy has demonstrated high and sustainable economic growth at 7-9% per year as a result of deepening economic reforms aimed at creating a favorable business environment, modernization, and technical and technological renewal of industry. Despite the continuing global financial and economic crisis, Uzbekistan holds a leading position in the world in terms of economic growth (at least 8.0% per year). GDP has increased by 1.8 times during 2005-2012.
