We stand at a critical juncture in our nation’s history. The global Covid-19 pandemic has had a structural impact on our society and economy in a way we could not have imagined even a few months ago. What the UK now faces is the critical task of rebuilding confidence across a range of areas including public health, job security, consumer spending and of course, the housing market. There is no doubt that we are in a period of massive disruption for housing delivery, with potential of significant lasting impact. There is a previously stated Government objective to deliver 300,000 homes a year by 2025 to meet the country’s needs. Moreover, there is a renewed interest in housing keyworkers such as NHS staff, as well as the post-election ‘levelling up’ commitment.
