The shortage of mortgage housing in India. The country is struggling to house its more than one billion citizens, with the issue affecting the economically weaker sections and low-income groups the most. The document further addresses the affordability concerns, defining what is constituted affordable housing by the task force assigned by India’s National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy (NUHHP), and the task force’s recommendations for overcoming the affordability gap. Goyal said that India’s National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy (NUHHP) in 2007 established a task force that tried to define what constituted affordable housing.
