Access to adequate and secure housing is a basic human right. This requires the government to play a role in housing provision to ensure basic housing needs, particularly for the most vulnerable social groups. In practice, however, tackling housing affordability and its associated social inequality problems have been a challenging task for governments in today’s economic environment.
