The report discusses at length the shortage of urban infrastructures in the African countries which result in development of slums and retardation of economic growth in the countries. The  infrastructure deficiencies in African countries is compounded by unprecedented urban growth whose consequences are reflected in the explosion of informal settlements (slums) all over the continent. Urbanization in Africa is faster than in any other region of the world.
