The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada assists Architects and their Clients in determining appropriate fees for Architect’s services. This guide has been developed by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada to assist Architects and their Clients in determining appropriate fees for Architect’s services. Following the Second World War, expectations and roles within the design and construction industry were consistent and clearly understood. Architect’s services for any building project were very much the same and builders generally performed in a consistent manner based on a standard set of conventions and procedures. Therefore it was relatively easy to identify a typical fee for the services of an Architect for a particular building type. A schedule of fees for architectural services based on a percentage of the construction cost was widely accepted and used.
