This document is a Final Report summarizing the findings of SBI after conducting a Rural Housing Microfinance Survey for First Microfinance Bank-Afghanistan (FMFB-A). This survey was developed to support FMFB-A’s efforts in piloting and implementing rural housing microfinance products, expanding from its current urban housing microfinance offering. Based on FMFB-A’s current product offerings in housing microfinance and rural microfinance, FMFB-A has identified rural housing microfinance as a strategic priority. The high demand for home improvements: Across the regions, an average of 73.2% of survey respondents confirmed that they are considering making home improvements in the coming year. In Jawzjan and Herat, more than 90% of respondents expressed interest in home improvements. In addition to home improvements, there was demand across the regions for solar products and other reliable alternative energy sources, hygienic improvements, and structural improvements.
