The Mayor has secured £4 billion from Government to deliver affordable homes in London under the new Homes for Londoners: Affordable Homes Programme 2021- 2026. This funding is expected to support starts on site between 2021 and 2026, with completions by 2028 for most projects and some strategic sites completed in 2029. The Mayor will use this program to maximize the number of new homes in London and is eager to ensure funding results in net additionality.
The Mayor and Government have agreed that over half of these starts across the new program will be at Social Rent – where we know there is the greatest need in London. The remainder will support households in home ownership, through the delivery of London Living Rent or Shared Ownership homes. The new program also includes provision for supported and specialist housing.
