Housing Polices: Common Goals and Diverse Approaches to Social Housing in India and Other Countries

Rapid urbanization has to improve city planning and should be prepared a policy of affordable housing. In India the responsibility of mitigating the 18 million housing as there is a big challenge for quality shelter still. The urban poor in-country have always been marginalized to basic rights of housing with basic infrastructure facilities of clean drinking tap water, drainage, health care, and other amenities. The developing countries are trying to provide a solution to the housing problem. Some countries have banked on public or institutional build housing although some countries have adopted the market-driven approach with the involvement of the private sector. The National Housing of India and Habitat Policy, 2007 accentuated on  Public-Private Partnership for housing projects. The Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model is much successful in India in different projects like building roads, airports, ports, power plants, etc. Therefore, there is a need to use the PPP model further in the Housing sector for incentivizing housing for the urban poor.
