Household have been found to be higher in high income bracket. Average household size across Pakistan is 6.9 persons per household. The highest have been found to be 11.1 persons in highest income bracket of more than Rs.50,000 per month in Ghotki. Overall, in Pakistan, the choice for nuclear and joint family system has been found to almost equally distributed, with 49% going for nuclear family and 51% for joint family system. A nuclear family consists of husband, wife and children, and an extended family consists of joint family system. On the other hand, in Mardan the joint family system is strong with 90% in high income and medial income group. In Peshawar, the joint family system is 74% in high income group and 84% in medial income group.
