A Trend Analysis of 2000-05 of housing finance portfolio of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs). This analysis has been prepared by the National Housing Bank (NHB) of India to analyze the performance of banks in housing finance over the last 5 years i.e. 1999-00 to 2004-05, the latest year for which disaggregated data is available in the public domain. The findings of the study are quite interesting. While it brings out the commendable penetration achieved by banks during this period, the gaps in financing are also clearly outlined.
