A 3-page document of a McKinsey report in 2010 found that approximately 25 million urban households in India cannot afford to house, and expected the number to reach 38 million by 2030. Since cities are estimated to contribute nearly two-thirds to our economic growth, an adequate supply of affordable urban housing is critical for sustaining high growth rates.
