Midtown Affordable Housing Plan September
The Midtown Redevelopment Authority (MRA), which administers Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #2, has purchased hundreds of tracts of land in Southeast Houston to leverage the production of affordable housing. This housing will be occupied by low-moderate income households of all ages, household sizes, abilities, and races/ethnicities.
MRA has proceeded with intent and with the knowledge that standard, affordable housing enhances the quality of life and wellness, improves the economic prospects of its occupants, and stabilizes and revitalizes neighborhoods. Thus, MRA has engaged the Center for Civic and Public Policy Improvement to provide oversight for the preparation of the Midtown Affordable Housing Plan (Plan), which will guide the Southeast Houston Affordable Housing Initiative.
The Midtown Affordable Housing Plan is being prepared for the Center for Civic and Public Policy Improvement (CCPPI) by a team led by Roberta F. Burroughs & Associates. CCPPI is under contract with the Midtown Redevelopment Authority (MRA) to provide oversight for the preparation of the Midtown Affordable Housing Plan.
The purpose of the Plan is to promulgate a systematic approach to the development of affordable housing on land purchased by MRA for that purpose. The project shall be called the Southeast Houston Affordable Housing Initiative, due to where the tracts of land are located.
