The Council of Common Interest (CCI), which met here at the PM Office on Wednesday with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the chair, decided that the 6th population census will be held in March 2016 with the support of armed forces as was done in 1998. It was decided that housing and population censuses would be held at the same time and the cost would be shared by provinces through the divisible pool. Provinces were directed to frame rules and complete other formalities at the earliest for absorption of federal employees transferred to provincial governments in the wake of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
