This strategy is aimed at social and affordable housing providers in Wales. It sets out expectations relating to the production of homes built using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), and is intended to inform leaders of local government, housing associations, and private businesses. It aims to encourage leaders to take a fresh look at how to deliver new social housing and to consider complimenting traditional construction methods with new technologies and approaches. The standards will apply equally to homes built traditionally or using MMC approaches. Design, building performance, and quality will be monitored through new technical scrutiny activity throughout the development process and when schemes are completed. Increased oversight will help understand the value for money from homes constructed in different ways, and the information will inform the type of social and affordable homes that will be funded in the future.
