The development of the housing situation for mobile students in Europe is alarming. Due to the widely acknowledged positive impacts that student mobility has on the higher education sector and society at large, Europe has seen a rapid increase in student mobility in the past years. the infrastructure required to further increase student mobility is often not sufficient. The additional financial burden of taking part in a mobility program is still the number one obstacle to student mobility and the costs of accommodation make up a majority of these additional costs.
