This document gives strategies for affordable housing in Saudi Arabia, the role of public/private sectors, social societies, and lending associations in meeting the basic housing needs of people and providing affordable housing for them. A citizen’s basic need is adequate shelter. Adequate shelter is a major indicator of the living standards of a citizen; as it contributes directly and indirectly to his prosperity, productivity, and health conditions. These elements of prosperity, productivity, and health condition are vital to national economic growth.  The United Nations organizations concerned with housing and population conducted several symposia and conferences on the issue of providing adequate hygienic housing for populations.
